Weerona Student Accommodation (WSA) has the capacity to house 204 student residents in total. There are three buildings, configured as follows:

Building A: Contains 94 beds in total. There are 24 single occupant rooms, and 35 double occupant rooms over three levels. Additionally, Building A is where residents will find the Administration offices, the Dining facility, Common Rooms and covered out-door deck.

*Please note that double occupant rooms (twin share) will be offered to applicants identifying as the same gender.

Buildings B & C: Each building contains single occupancy rooms only. Each building has 55 rooms over three levels

WSA is a gated community. The property is as safe as the residents living at WSA make it. There are three entry gates – two at the eastern end of Building A and one at the western end of Building A. A key card is required to obtain entry. Additionally, the property is fully fenced along its boundaries. Residents are strongly encouraged to ensure that all gates close securely when entering or leaving the premises. Under no circumstances are gates to be propped open.

Each building has keyed entry doors. Building B has two entry points. Building C has two main entry points and three emergency egress exit doors at the eastern end. Building A has two main entry points for residents, two entry/exit points to the BBQ area, and four emergency egress doors – three at the eastern end of the building, and one off the laundry leading out to the loading dock area.

There is also an entry/exit door from the loading dock into the commercial kitchen. This is keyed separately and for use by catering providers and delivery or service vehicle drivers only.

Windows in building A are fitted with security screens, and in Buildings B and C, there are limiters on sliding windows, and screens fitted to each window.

Residents key cards allow them entry to all gates and entry exit doors within the WSA compound, as well as their assigned room only. Residents are responsible for and strongly encouraged to be vigilant in taking care of their key card. In the event of a key card being lost or damaged, residents are encouraged to report this to WSA staff ASAP. A nominal charge applies for replacing a residents key card.

The carpark areas are not gated however they are well lit and monitored by CCTV.

The administration/reception office at WSA is open from 9am until 5pm, Monday – Friday each week. There will be occasions when the office will be opened outside of these times. Residents will be notified when this happens.

There will be an after-hours emergency contact available. This strategy is currently being put into place by WSA management, and residents will be advised of all relevant details once this has been finalised. In the interim, in an emergency situation, residents should call 000 and request the relevant emergency services assistance.

There is a car park right at the main entry which your family and friends can use at anytime.

Catering is not provided as part of your accommodation costs package. However, WSA Management are seeking to engage commercial providers who will run a “pay as you go” café/bistro from the commercial kitchen and dining area. WSA Management will liaise closely with these providers to ensure that costs are competitive and within the range of students, that meals are healthy, nutritious and enjoyable for residents. Interim arrangements for catering are currently being made.

Cultural, medical and religious dietary requirements will be taken into consideration, and residents who have food allergies or other medical issues requiring specialist dietary intake will be asked to provide evidence from their health care provider. This information will remain confidential but may be disclosed to health care providers in the event of an emergency.
