Sport & Recreation

If you love being active or if you want to try something new, then all your sporting needs are covered. You will find the Beaton Park Leisure Centre and the City of Wollongong Tennis Club located right at your doorstep.

For lovers of the outdoors, Wollongong has great surfing beaches, excellent golf courses and many great walking tracks. Indoor activities you may wish to pursue include Holey-Moley for mini-golf and Hangdog indoor rock-climbing.

Our boutique stadiums – The Win Entertainment Centre and Win Stadium are just down the road. Every seat is prime viewing where you can catch all the action from the Dragons and Hawks home games.

Stunning Beaches

With hidden treasures all over the Illawarra, Wollongong offers many special places to unwind. From swimming pools and rock pools to some of the most beautiful beaches in the country.

Some of the most special places include Stanwell Park Beach, Coledale Beach, Sandon Point, Bulli Rock Pool, North Beach, Wollongong City Beach and Port Kembla Beach.

Outdoor Activities

One thing you will learn about life in Wollongong is that there is always a new adventure to be found. Join one of the local sporting teams, learn to surf, skate, hang-glide, rock climb, stand-up paddleboard or even hike to Sea Cliff Bridge lookout.

Never miss a photo op for Instagram with coastal paragliding on offer or check out the glow worms in the Helensburgh tunnel.

Arts, Culture & Entertainment

The area we know today as Wollongong was originally inhabited by the Dharawal people. They remain the Traditional Custodians of this land. Wollongong has a proud Aboriginal community that encourages everyone from all walks of life to learn and celebrate local culture traditions.

Located on Burelli Street, between Wollongong Art Gallery and the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre, Wollongong’s Arts Precinct is the cultural hub of the city. Perhaps you will find yourself becoming a regular at the many events offered here.

Public Art will pop up from time to time across our city. Expect to see huge murals, light and sound experiences and sculptures all over town.

The live music scene in Wollongong is always buzzing. Just about every night of the week you can find a diverse range of artists performing all across town from live gigs to exhibitions and concerts.

Our music scene caters to different tastes and genres and live music venues range from hotels, bars and clubs to theatres, lounges and concert halls.

Shopoholics, we have you covered with all the major brands at Crown Street Mall, Wollongong Central and Stockland Shellharbour. They are all close by and open 7 days a week. Explore the local shops on offer and check out Eat Street Market and the Bulli Showground markets.
